- How did you get into health care philanthropy?
I was recruited into health care philanthropy by a hospital CEO that was building a replacement hospital for a long standing hospital. It was an incredible crash course in hospital and healthcare operations, as I learned it literally from the ground up as we built a new hospital. This education on operations set me up to better understand hospital operations and leadership within in healthcare. This education allowed me to have success in my role as CDO of the health system.
- Why did you choose to make health care philanthropy your career?
After working in higher education, arts and culture, I was drawn the immediate and dramatic impact that philanthropy plays in taking care of patients and their families. It is truly life changing and the opportunity to be a part of that is incredible.
- What has been the #1 factor in your career success so far?
I don’t think there is one factor, it is the culmination of working hard, finding mentors and learning what do and what not do from each role I have been in during my career so far. In my current role, it is my team that has come together to truly raise the bar of philanthropy across SCL Health.
- What is your greatest passion and why?
My greatest passion is working and supporting super smart people that want to make an impact! I am never more fulfilled than when my team is rising to meet a challenge and succeeds. It is a privilege to get to a certain point in your career where you can work to support, promote and let other shines with their talents.
- What are your future aspirations?
Philanthropy is unique and ever changing and so my aspirations are to work with the trends,
continue to support my team and the hospitals we serve but mostly it is to never forget that
relationships are the true power behind what we do internally and externally.
