- How did you get into health care philanthropy?
My first foray into health care philanthropy came at St. Louise Hospital in Gilroy, CA as a Capital Campaign Consultant while working at CCS Fundraising.
- Why did you choose to make health care philanthropy your career?
During my time at St. Louise Hospital, which was part of the Daughters of Charity Health System, I experienced how philanthropy could make such a positive impact on not only individual patients and their families, but an entire community. These experiences lead me to an opportunity with Catholic Healthcare West, now Dignity Health, where I could align my values with a Mission I wanted to champion. Now 7 years later and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else.
- What has been the #1 factor in your career success so far?
The #1 factor in my success so far has been the meaningful relationships I have had the opportunity to build over the past 15 years. I can’t attribute the success just to the relationships though. The belief in me that those, friends, colleagues, mentors and supervisors had played, and continues to play, a great role in my success.
- What is your greatest passion and why?
On a personal level my family is my greatest passion. My wife, Ashley, and our 5 children mean the world to me. Professionally, I’m deeply passionate about the Mission of Dignity Health which is to further the healing ministry of Jesus. I’m proud to share my work with my children and show them examples of how they can make an impact.
- What are your future aspirations?
I look to continue to grow our healing ministry in the Phoenix area and beyond through philanthropy. As Dignity Health continues to grow I will continue to build relationships internally and externally in the communities we serve. This will open opportunities within Dignity Health’s programs which will allow me to continue advancing my career.
