Kathleen's journey at the Medic One Foundation showcases her remarkable leadership and dedication to philanthropy. Starting as a part-time Development Assistant in 2016, Kathleen's exceptional work ethic propelled her to the role of Associate Director of Philanthropy. Her strategic vision and meticulous planning have been instrumental in the Foundation's success, including a record-breaking $1.2 million raised at the Lifesavers Gala in 2023. Kathleen's efforts have led to significant growth in donor contributions, including a 13% increase in the average gift per donor and securing a historic $10 million gift. Her commitment to fostering meaningful relationships and professional development has solidified her as a beacon of inspiration in the philanthropic community.

During my undergraduate years at Seattle University, I joined the steering committee for RedhawkTHON, a student-led organization that fundraises for Seattle Children’s Hospital. After three years of fundraising, event planning, and getting to know the patients and families we were directly supporting, I knew deep down that this was what I wanted to do in my career post-grad.

I’ve always been driven towards a career that makes a difference and supports causes that I deeply care about. Meeting the survivors that our Medic One paramedics have served and hearing their stories and words of gratitude underscores the significance of this work for me. The ability to help ensure that everyone in our community receives top-notch care from exceptionally trained paramedics is what motivates me every day.

I began college as a nursing major but switched to social work with a minor in nonprofit and public administration. In my final year, I came across a part-time Development Assistant position with the Medic One Foundation, eventually working my way up to the role of Associate Director of Philanthropy. Over the years I felt a lot of uncertainty around what I wanted to do with my career, but I’m extremely grateful for the academic advisors, mentors, and colleagues who helped me figure it out along the way.

My greatest passion is in building and cultivating relationships with others. Whether it be spending time with my loved ones, catching up with my colleagues, or developing genuine connections with donors, I feel the most fulfilled when I get to engage meaningfully with people.

Embrace change, welcome the unknown, and always be curious. You never know what doors might open, or where they might lead to.

Fun Fact

I was a choir kid for six years, through middle and high school!
