Breast Cancer Canada

Angela, a dynamic fundraiser and marketer, excels in leveraging digital content to drive philanthropy. As the leader behind Breast Cancer Canada's strategic rebrand, she transformed the organization's voice and engagement strategies, fostering a more inclusive identity and broader impact nationwide. Angela's innovative approach extends to pioneering digital initiatives, such as the National Patient Reported Outcomes Study and an online knowledge tool for breast cancer patients.

I began working in healthcare philanthropy 12 years ago as a result of my profound desire to make a tangible impact on people's lives through my skillset of fundraising and communications.

I recognize the critical role that philanthropy plays in advancing healthcare through research and improving patient outcomes. Breast cancer impacts one in eight, and my mother is one of those women. The two most important things in life are health and family. It is my wish that every patient has access to the care they need, so they can enjoy a health life with their loved ones.

A pivotal moment in my career was leading the organizational rebrand at Breast Cancer Canada in 2022. This comprehensive project included overhauling all digital channels and revitalizing our communication strategy. The success of this initiative reinforced my belief in the power of strategic, data-driven marketing, and solidified my commitment to advancing digital engagement in the nonprofit sector.

My greatest passion is driving impact through strategic engagement. I believe in the transformative power of effective storytelling and data-driven approaches to foster donor relationships and make meaningful change. This passion fuels my dedication to my work and my continuous pursuit of innovative ways to inspire support.

My advice would be to focus on building genuine relationships with donors and stakeholders. Authentic connections foster trust and long-term support, which are crucial for sustaining philanthropic efforts. Additionally, stay adaptable and open to learning—healthcare philanthropy is a dynamic field that benefits from fresh perspectives, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Fun Fact

I began fundraising at the young age of eight by collecting and rolling coins for a humanitarian charity. This initiative inspired my third grade classmates to join my efforts, eventually engaging the entire school. The remarkable efforts were even featured in the local newspaper! My first photo op.
