Andrea has been a vital member of the SJRHF team since 2012, progressing from a development officer to her current role as Acting Director of Leadership Giving. Her leadership, commitment to philanthropy, and exceptional donor engagement skills have driven significant achievements, including raising over $5 million to transform healthcare in the province. Andrea's work with the John T. McMillan Jr. Memorial Foundation culminated in raising $1 million for cancer care, and she played key roles in major capital campaigns, securing substantial gifts that contributed to the hospital's growth. Andrea's dedication extends beyond her professional role, with active involvement in community boards and volunteer activities, demonstrating her holistic commitment to philanthropy.

My journey into healthcare philanthropy started with volunteering at fundraising events for our hospital, where I witnessed the impact of community support firsthand. In 2012, I was fortunate to join the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation team as a development officer, marking the beginning of a rewarding career journey that has spanned over a decade.

Growing up, my family and I experienced firsthand the compassionate care offered by our hospital. This personal connection ignited my passion for healthcare philanthropy. Each day, I witness the profound impact donors make in advancing healthcare for patients and families in our community. The generosity and compassion of our donors continues to inspire me. I feel so privileged to be part of such meaningful work, contributing to a cause that has touched my life and continues to impact so many others.

Attaining my CFRE designation was a pivotal milestone in my career journey. It validated years of experience and dedication to fundraising, boosting my confidence and credibility in the field. Beyond the credential itself, the process of earning CFRE was a challenging yet rewarding experience.

My greatest passion professionally is fostering meaningful connections with our donors. Building lasting relationships with donors is at the heart of what I do. Each day, I have the privilege of connecting generous donors with meaningful causes that align with their aspirations and values. Through these relationships, I get to witness firsthand the profound impact that philanthropy can have on advancing healthcare in our province.

If I could offer one piece of advice to someone new to healthcare philanthropy, it would be to find a mentor and learn from the experts in your field. The wisdom and experience of those who have been in the field will be one of your greatest assets as you build your career. Don't shy away from asking questions and seeking feedback—it's invaluable for your growth.
