Throughout her career, Stephanie has shown leadership in a variety of positions—whether overseeing a team of 13 fundraising professionals or informally mentoring colleagues across her organization. After shifting her career from for-profit marketing to the non-profit sector, Stephanie has steadily increased her responsibility in the development field over the past decade. She has received multiple promotions across roles in higher education and healthcare philanthropy, and now serves as the Director of Annual and Leadership Giving at Spaulding Rehabilitation. Stephanie is committed to cross-collaboration and best practice sharing, co-chairing the Annual Giving Council across the Mass General Brigham development organization, and sharing her knowledge through presentations and teaching.
After the birth of my son in 2018, I became much more aware of healthcare philanthropy and the role it plays in our medical systems—especially in the Boston area. I joined Spaulding Rehabilitation (part of the Mass General Brigham healthcare system) as the Director of Annual Giving in 2019, transitioning from the higher education development space.
I was immediately impressed by the healthcare philanthropy community and its impact when I joined in 2019. And then the pandemic hit. Our ability to play a role in supporting clinicians and other frontline staff during such a challenging time solidified my long-term interest in healthcare philanthropy.
Shifting from higher education development to healthcare was a turning point for me. I'm thankful for everything I learned and the growth opportunities I experienced in higher ed, which have continued to inform my work and career path even as I chart a new course in healthcare.
I firmly believe in the power of knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and mentorship. Learning myself and helping others on their own growth trajectories are the two most rewarding activities I can think of! We have so much more impact when it's amplified through others.
Learn from others in the field—both peers and leaders you admire. There is always something to take away from how others approach similar challenges and opportunities.
I have been skydiving! My friends and I took the leap at sunset in Newport, Rhode Island, one summer.
