2022 40 Under 40 Winners

Nafisa served as the campaign lead to raise $2 million for a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Sturgeon Community Hospital.

She was the catalyst and leads the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation’s IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Access) committee.

Nafisa is deeply engaged in her community, including service on the board of the Cultural Connections Institute, The Learning Exchange (CCI-LEX) and volunteering in support of several candidates for office.

She is the media spokesperson for the Stollery’s Mighty Millions Lottery, inspiring Albertans to support innovation in children’s health through the lottery.

When I was in university, I received a job posting from our local air-ambulance charity. As I read the job posting, everything clicked; I finally knew what I wanted to do with my life! I always wanted to work with people and health and being in healthcare philanthropy was the perfect fit.

I enjoy helping improve the health of others. Working for a children's hospital has provided me the opportunity to meet so many children and families with incredible health journeys. These children are resilient and pure joy. They live in the moment. It's an honor to be able to help them and their families get the best care.

I left philanthropy to serve in a different sector and quickly learned that my heart was in philanthropy. I missed the spirit of philanthropy (love of humanity) and realized how unique and important our work is to us and so  many. 

I'm passionate about people first. For me, it's about helping people thrive through adversity. Whether it's in my professional world supporting child health, or in my volunteer endeavors, I love supporting others and seeing them grow.
