2022 40 Under 40 Winners

Kristen has personally raised more than $50 million over the past 10 years, notably closing a $20 million gift in 2020.  

She secured the first Johns Hopkins professorships (totaling $5M) in the DC region, through a generous grateful patient family. 

She received an Innovation award at Sibley recognizing her partnership with physicians to develop the grateful patient process.  

Kristen has held the CFRE credential since 2010. She also earned a master’s degree in nonprofit management from Trinity (Washington) University. 

My father was a health care executive in my home town of Pittsburgh and introduced me to the work of hospital foundations.  I had an internship in a hospital foundation 20 years ago and have spent my entire career in hospital foundations.  

After my first internships, I recognized the impact of extraordinary individuals on health care delivery and innovation. 

One of the most pivotal moments of my career was working with a grieving husband to honor his wife.  Through his generosity and the generosity of his friends, Sibley Foundation was able to launch a fund to assist cancer patients in need with transportation, medication assistance, and other barriers to treatment. Now, nearly 10 years later, more than $1M of support has been given and "Patty's Fund" has become an essential resource of our cancer center. 

My greatest passion professionally is aligning my hospital's funding priorities with donor's goals. When these align, powerful innovation and program growth can occur. Specifically, I am proud when we are able to support employees' continuing education and moving through our ranks. 

This is advice my dad (a health care executive) gave me: eat in the cafeteria!  You will always get business done and it helps to build relationships.
