Q & A
1. How did you get into healthcare philanthropy?
I knew I wanted to work in philanthropy after university and challenged myself to learn more by completing my certificate in Fundraising and Resource Development. From there, my goal was to find an organization that I was passionate about the cause and inspired me. Working in healthcare philanthropy does both of those things, I am able to see the impact of our work on a daily basis while giving back to the community.
2. Tell us about a pivot point or crucial step in your career journey.
I was given the opportunity to run our direct mail campaigns shortly after starting as the Stewardship Officer at the Royal Alex. From that moment on, when I realized I could combine my love of data with the art of solicitation, it really lit the fire inside me. Being the lead on direct mail motivated me to propose an Annual Giving team within our organization. With the support of my leadership team and peers, we have created a successful team that is continuing to grow.
3. What piece of advice would you give aspiring 40 Under 40 recipients?
Don't keep to the status quo! Just because it is the way it was always done does not mean it is the best way going forward.
