I made a pivot into healthcare philanthropy from higher education.

I was drawn to healthcare philanthropy because of the profound impact giving can have on medical advancements and patient care. Healthcare donors are motivated by a deep sense of gratitude for the care they or their loved ones received, and they want to give back to help others experience the same high level of care. It's incredibly rewarding to help facilitate these gifts.

My husband was diagnosed with lymphoma in May 2024, which has provided me with a renewed sense of purpose and drive for the work that I do on behalf of our talented researchers and caregivers. This deeply personal experience transformed my perspective and reinforced the importance of the efforts in medical research and healthcare that our donors support. Witnessing firsthand the benefits that past scientific advancements and philanthropy brought to my husband's treatment, I feel a renewed urgency and focus on ensuring continuous support for our researchers and caregivers.

I strongly believe in the power of community involvement, whether it's through volunteering, serving on a board, or making donations. Each of these actions helps strengthen and enrich our communities, creating a more connected and supportive environment for everyone. When individuals engage and contribute the ways they are able, they not only make a positive impact but also set an inspiring example for others to follow.

Hearing the heartfelt stories of patients and their families can take an emotional toll. Make sure to surround yourself with colleagues and loved ones who can lift you up, and find hobbies that recharge your battery.
