Q & A
1. How did you get into healthcare philanthropy?
Since I graduated college, I always knew I wanted to do something that helped others, and I wanted to use my social skills for good. I am a cancer survivor, and I was drawn to Adventist Health because of their progressive commitment to well-being. My patient experience has shaped me into the healthcare fundraiser that I am today. I feel if my efforts can help someone in a small way–that I am contributing one patient at a time.
2. Tell us about a pivot point or crucial step in your career journey.
Expanding my knowledge and understanding around health disparities has been a pivotal point in my professional growth. I have realized there are no boundaries to what philanthropy can accomplish; and having recently had the privilege of being involved in a truly transformational gift. It is so uplifting to bring together an organization with an audacious vision to advance well-being for all and a donor with this same dream. I feel so blessed to be a part of this sacred work and in awe that I have helped create something for my community that will transform generations.
3. What piece of advice would you give aspiring 40 Under 40 recipients?
