2022 40 Under 40 Winners

Amanda is a Raisers Edge trainer and super-user. In her current role, Amanda has re-set the standard for prospect research at Lehigh Valley Health Network, leading the team in the implementation of its first-ever grateful patient program.

She re-built the dashboards for her former health system at Bon Secours Mercy Health, assisted fundraisers in setting attainable goals based on their donor portfolios, and participated in high-level prospect moves management and strategy discussions. 

She has served as a board member for Apra’s Virginia chapter, serving its community of prospect research professionals.

Amanda earned both a Master of Public Administration and Certificate of Nonprofit Management from Virginia Commonwealth University.

By chance. I was working at a university when I was approached to do some contract research work for a healthcare organization. After a few months, the organization created a position for me and asked me to come on full time.

I had worked in philanthropy in both higher education and museums but never in healthcare. I was offered the opportunity to join a healthcare organization and knew that because the landscape of healthcare is always evolving, I would be challenged each and every day and no day would be the same.

While obtaining my Master's degree I was required to do an internship which I did in the VCU Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations. It was here that I met Samantha Wheeler Marrs and Amy English. I had never thought about a career in philanthropy before, but they both showed me in the in and outs of philanthropy and I was hooked.

Family. You can catch me most weekends on the ball field watching my son or find us doing something fun together.

Never stop learning.  Healthcare philanthropy is different and ever evolving. You must be willing to explore, learn, and adapt to meet the needs of your organization and your donors.
