AHP Performance Benchmarking Service
How it Started...
A Program by Your Peers
In 2003, a group of 12 Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP) member organizations set out to revolutionize the health care fundraising industry by creating the Health Care Benchmarking Learning Circle. Their goal: to establish standardized metrics and best practices for fundraising success and to set parameters for goal-setting and resource allocation.
The group recognized that the world of their board members, CEO's and CFO's is quite different than that of a fundraiser — it involves financial modeling, performance data, and strategizing based on benchmarks and best practices. In order to demonstrate the power of philanthropy, these development professionals joined together to create health care philanthropy benchmarks and best practices. Working with a leading business practices consulting firm, AHP members provided the data to start this groundbreaking industry effort that brings philanthropy on an equal playing field with the other components of the health care organization.
AHP's initial effort has eveolved to become the AHP Performance Benchmarking Service, and it continues to grow as more participants join this critical benchmarking effort.
