Steven W. Churchill, MNA, is the president & chief executive officer of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP), an international professional organization dedicated to developing the men and women who encourage charity for nonprofit hospitals and health care organizations. AHP’s 5,000 members represent more than 2,200 health care organizations in North America and abroad.

Churchill has more than 25 years of experience in fundraising and nonprofits. He most recently served as executive director of the American Medical Association (AMA) Foundation, an organization dedicated to improving the health of our nation’s communities. Prior to joining the AMA, he was vice president of development and alumni relations at Des Moines University medical school. Churchill served three terms in the Iowa House of Representatives and founded the Churchill Group to provide fundraising consulting services to nonprofit and political organizations. He also served as director of major gifts at Simpson College and worked as a marketing executive with the Mid-America Group.

In addition to his professional experience, Churchill has a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Administration from North Park University’s School of Business and Nonprofit Management and serves on its advisory board. He is a recipient of the Commander’s Award for Public Service from the U.S. Department of the Army, a charter member and past president of the Rotary Club of Des Moines A.M. and a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE).
